“Every day we manage around 𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞, including 𝟏𝟓-𝟐𝟎 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞. With nearly 𝟏𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐱’𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤, and up to 𝟑𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧, waste management remains a major challenge,” said Shamim Al Imran, Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary), Local Government, Cox’s Bazar, and Administrator of Cox’s Bazar Municipality.

To support a cleaner environment and safer working conditions for waste workers, ILO’s #ISECproject, together with Cordaid and Cox’s Bazar Municipality, handed over essential waste management equipment to strengthen local waste collection, segregation and recycling efforts.

As 𝐌𝐚𝐱 𝐓𝐮ñó𝐧, 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐈𝐋𝐎 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡, noted, a cleaner environment supports tourism, decent work and local economic growth. Through the ISEC Project, funded by the High Commission of Canada to Bangladesh, we are helping create greener jobs and a more sustainable future for #coxsbazar.
