The ILO’s ISEC project has strengthened the capacity of 80 industry trainers in Cox’s Bazar to deliver quality workplace-based training under the Dual Training System (DTS)/Apprenticeship Programme, supporting structured learning opportunities for 300 apprentices in the tourism and hospitality, beauty care, and construction sectors. Through a training programme
held in two batches in July 2026, trainers enhanced their understanding of competency-based training (CBT), workplace coaching and learner assessment approaches that focus on skills acquisition and measurable progress.
Facilitated by experts from the ILO and BRAC, the initiative aims to ensure that apprentices gain consistent, high-quality workplace learning experiences that improve their skills and employability.
The programme also reinforced key principles of inclusion, workplace safety and environmental responsibility. Trainers received practical guidance on using Training Record Books to monitor apprentices’ progress and explored strategies for creating gender-responsive, safe and environmentally sustainable workplaces, including good waste management practices. By equipping trainers with the knowledge and tools to deliver effective mentorship and competency-based learning, the initiative contributes to stronger apprenticeship systems and better training outcomes, particularly for women and other groups that may face barriers to skills development and employment opportunities.
